About

About Us

What makes us different is our approach to physical therapy and how much it differs from other providers. We look at the body and the way it moves in its entirety to create the personalized solution to rehabilitation and injury prevention. With this approach, it is less likely that a condition is missed providing a maximum outcome/result of rehabilitation.

Right Path Physical Therapy and Performance Academy LLC is in network with most major insurance carriers.

Physical therapy is such a valuable tool, whether that be for an injury prevention component, rehabilitation, assessing overall movement asymmetries, or return to sport readiness.

At Right Path, we have a full range of strength training equipment for all levels of care.

Our Team

Abbee and Tyson are both from the community and grew up in Howard County. Combined, they have over 40 years of physical therapy experience. As a physical therapy clinic in Kokomo, they continue to provide the best, unique approach to rehab, which they are recognized for.

Abbee Summers

Owner, PTA

  • Eastern High School grad, University of Evansville B.S in Exercise Science, Assoc. in Physical Therapy

  • ASTYM certified, C-PS (champion performance specialist), CRTS (certified running technique specialist), Parisi certified

  • My personal professional goal is to be able to provide next level care and an unmatched physical therapy experience in a state of the art facility to be able to restore and improve functional mobility. It has always been my dream to be able to provide physical therapy services at a clinic of my own and the most influential people in my life have always pushed me towards it. This opportunity is a dream come true.

  • I care deeply for this community and cherish the relationships that I have made over my 21 years of practicing. My favorite part of my career is the constant ability to learn. No two days are the same and I love that challenge of always trying to broaden and deepen my skill set to provide new, exciting, and effective ways to treat varieties of diagnosis.

  • I am married to Michael Summers (who is also an Eastern Grad and deeply knitted into this community) and we have 3 girls; Harlowe, Nolen and Irelyn. After the tragic loss of my only sister, Aimee Romero in 2021, we also are care takers for my 2 nieces and nephew, Keyton, Kaeden and Kamryn.

  • In the summer, I love to be at our lake cottage, making memories with my family while waterskiing and wakeboarding on our Mastercraft.

Tyson Schoolman

Owner, PTA

  • Associate of Physical Therapist Assistant, Bachelor of General Studies, Master of Public Management (Health Management Concentration)

  • Champion Performance Specialist, Functional Movement Screen, Y Balance Test, Fundamental Capacity Screen, Parisi Performance Coach, ViPR PRO Level 1 (Functional Strength)

  • I spent 10 years working in the fitness industry as a personal trainer and performance coach. During that time, I returned to school and became a Physical Therapist Assistant. I have worked in physical therapy for the last 10 years. During that time, I realized I love combining what I learned from both industries to help people maximize their ability to move in order to perform any activity they choose.

  • My favorite part of my job is helping people achieve a goal they never thought possible!

  • I have been married to Jodi Schoolman for 15 years. We have 3 children. Cole Riley is 22, just graduated from IUK, and married his wife Kaitlyn in June. Karsyn is 14 and a freshman at NW high school. Karsyn decided to end her gymnastics career at the start of the school year and is looking for new interests. Miley is 12 and in 7th grade at NW. She played volleyball this year for the first time and loved it. She also loves acting/singing in the musicals at school.

  • Fun Fact: I have ADHD! I was diagnosed after my oldest daughter was born. I was basically a terrible student until I went on medication. Afterward, I completed an associate’s and master’s degree at the same time while attending 2 different schools full-time.

Abby Hurlock

PTA

  • Maconaquah High School graduate, Indiana University of Kokomo B.S. in Exercise Science, University of Indianapolis Associates in Physical Therapist Assistant.

  • Parisi Speed School certified.

  • Former college volleyball athlete at the NAIA level at IUK.

  •  I was attracted to the field of Physical Therapy through my athletic background as I have had surgeries that have given me the opportunity to have the unique experience of being the patient as well as the clinician. These experiences have given me the ability to understand Physical Therapy from both points of view, allowing me to provide a unique experience to each individual.

  • My goal as a new PTA graduate is to use my athletic background, weightlifting experience, and overall knowledge to provide individualized treatments that focus on the patient as a whole and not just their diagnosis. My focus is to help each patient accomplish the goals they have set for themselves whether it is to return to sport, walk a mile, pick up their grandchild, or perform regular daily activities. I have set out in this field to make a difference for each of my patients and to give back to this community just like past therapist have done for me.

  • I am newly married as of August 2023 to Noah Hurlock. Together we are dog parents to a 4 year old husky named Athena.

  • When I am not working, I love to stay active by participating in Crossfit at Crossfit Kokomo, going on long walks with my dog, and spending time with my family.
